Meet Our Team
Scott’s Inspections Inc. is dedicated to the ongoing training of our inspectors and awareness of the latest changes in building codes and technological advancements, in order to provide the public with a quality and professional home inspection.
Our training philosophy
We believe the licensing requirements established by the Texas Real Estate Commission for real estate inspectors are insufficient. Someone with no prior inspection experience can attended a set number of seminars, takes a written test, and if they pass become a licensed home inspector. Our founder, Scott Emerson, strongly believes the state’s requirements lack proper oversight and guidance, which is why he requires our inspectors to complete an additional 12 week on-site training program. Our inspectors benefit from his experience as they learn first hand additional material that was not covered in the
books. For this reason and many other…We believe Our inspectors are the best.

Schott |

|
Jason “Jay” Schott,
was born in
San Antonio
and raised twenty miles south of the city in La Vernia, TX. He graduated from
Texas
State
University
with a BA in Criminal Justice and a minor in law enforcement, but quickly
realized a career in criminal justice wasn't right for him.
He spent ten years working at The La Mansion Hotel in guest
services, as well as an apartment complex’s onsite handyman and caretaker
before deciding to pursue a career in Real Estate Inspecting.
Jay’s interest in the profession was sparked from the moment he learned of
it. He immediately enrolled in the
Professional Real Estate Inspector Program at
San Antonio
College
, and after nearly 500 classroom hours passed the State exam to become a
licensed real estate inspector.
Jay’s passion for his job and eagerness to learn was impressive from the beginning; While
still in the training program at Scott's Inspections, he successfully pursued
a technician’s license from the Texas Structural Pest Control Board,
certifying him to inspect for termites as well.
His proactive attitude, customer service experience, and exceptional
communication skills perfectly complement to his ability to perform and
deliver a thorough inspection.
Jay is also licensed by The Texas Real Estate Commission
and a member of The Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors, which require
annual continuing education requirements to be met. |
